Privacy & your data

What is public versus private, how your content is processed and safeguarded, and your rights.

Edustories is built around sharing real classroom situations responsibly. This page explains what happens to your content and your rights as an account holder.

Anonymize before you share

You are responsible for removing identifying details from anything you submit. Do not include student names, school names, or place names — describe the situation in a way that cannot identify anyone.

Anonymizing your content is your responsibility. Always write case reports so that no individual or institution can be recognised.

The platform also has an automatic safeguard that helps strip identifying details from your text as an extra layer of protection. This support does not replace your own careful anonymization — it complements it.

What is public versus private

  • Public — your published case reports (shown with your name or anonymously, depending on your setting), available in the shared, searchable case library.
  • Private — your account details, your drafts and private (unpublished) cases, your saved cases, and your personal tags. These are visible only to you. There is no public per-user profile page.

How your content is processed by AI

To make Edustories useful, your submitted material is processed by artificial intelligence to:

  • transcribe voice recordings into text,
  • structure your story into organised fields,
  • suggest solutions across pedagogical approaches,
  • translate content between Czech and English, and
  • find similar cases in the library.

Content sent for AI processing is handled in pseudonymized or anonymized form — another reason to submit only de-identified text.

Logging, controller, and deletion

  • Actions are logged. The platform keeps an internal record of changes for accountability.
  • Data controller. Masaryk University is the controller of your personal data, which is stored on its servers and accessible only to project members.
  • Your rights. You have the usual rights over your personal data, including access, correction, and deletion.
  • Account and data deletion is available on request — contact the Edustories project (as described in the Terms of Use) to have your account and data removed.
